Confirm jurisdiction beyond the mailing address
Start with Federal Way's boundary resources rather than a ZIP code or neighborhood name. The city's maps page links King County tools for property information and its own GIS portal for city boundaries. For an edge-of-city home, confirm jurisdiction with staff before asking about curb use. Then share the exact driveway or building entrance, including any access street that differs from the mailing address.

Have the mover check the vehicle's rating
Federal Way's street-use code bases heavy-vehicle route restrictions on the vehicle's weight rating and includes a local-delivery exception. Give your mover the origin, destination, vehicle rating and planned approach so it can review the applicable rules. Have it check separate oversize or overweight requirements too. A local-delivery exception does not reserve curb space or establish that the final driveway can accommodate the vehicle.

Check the public edge before setting up
Federal Way notes that public right of way can extend beyond the pavement into what looks like private property. If unloading would occupy a sidewalk, shoulder or traffic lane, describe the layout, vehicle and timing to the city's right-of-way desk before arranging it. Ask whether permission or a different setup is needed, and agree on an indoor bin-staging area that keeps the public walking route clear.
