Arrange temporary loading early
Austin's right-of-way guidance has a parking-permit category for temporary loading or unloading of non-construction materials. It lists application and payment lead times, plus notification requirements for adjacent properties. Review these before setting a curbside move date. Moving or storage containers receive case-by-case review, so discuss the actual device and location rather than assuming approval.

Plan parking for helpers too
Austin's Residential Permit Parking program includes an address-based eligibility lookup and visitor options for participating streets. Check your block's restrictions before friends arrive with cars, especially around the university and other permit areas. Confirm which visitor option applies to the address; a resident's plate-linked permit should not be assumed to cover a helper's vehicle.

Check the street-event map
Austin publishes a map of upcoming permitted street events. The city cautions that the mapped routes may not show every affected street or closure. Check it before choosing a moving window, then confirm the final approach with your building. Keep a second arrival route available when an event is close to the pickup or delivery address.
